Fraunch Fries, Fraunch Bread, and to drink...PERU

Another glorious Sunday in Boston, and Laura and I took full advantage and headed on over to the South End for brunch today to dine at the French Bistro Aquitaine: http://aquitaineboston.com/.  This is a holiday weekend, so we wanted to pick a place that takes reservations in case all these out-of-towners got the memo that brunch in Boston is cool and took over the city.  Aquitaine has been on the top of our list for awhile so we booked a 12:30pm reservation.  We had a guest bruncher with us today which is always fun! Laura and I get to share our Sundaylicious rules and regulations (egg rankings and all), and of course dish over some great dishes!! Sarah was a good sport with all the picture taking and dish rankings, and contributed greatly to our restaurant ratings....like Laura, she is in the restaurant biz so this is her area of expertise :)
As we sat down, we were immediately excited because we got one of the coveted booths by the window which lets in all the glorious sunlight.  Aquitaine is not very big, but it gives off a grand presence.  It feels very Old World Europe, like you are in a quaint bistro in Paris.  The sun was shining, and the place was a glow in its light.  The service was a little slow, but we were not in any rush so it was OK.....for today.

As always, the first thing we ordered were some mimosas and coffee :)   Laura is on a grapefruit kick, so she and Sarah got that version....and of course "By the Book Brodsky" got the good ol' version with orange juice.  They were delicious!  For brunch I ordered the Omelette a la Greque, which is an omelet with spinach and feta cheese.....OUI OUI!!!  This was the most delicious and tasty omelet I have ever had!!  It was so good I couldn't stop eating it until I was done every last bite!!  And.....I finally got the coveted vote for the dish of the day!!!!!  It came with potatoes that were melt in your mouth yummy, and toast (which you all know I hate as a side so I did not eat it (I think slabs of bread are a waste of space in your tummy when there are so many more interesting things you could eat.  If I am gonna waste the space on a bread side dish it better be round with some sesame seeds, and come with cream cheese).

Sarah ordered Croque Monsieur, which is a Parisian pressed sandwich with smoked ham, Gruyere cheese, tarragon mustard, and watercress.  It looked amazing!!  It also came with pommes frites (which we all know is FRENCH for FRENCH fries!!!) Laura ordered Croque Madame, which is the same sandwich with a fried egg on top..and that egg takes it over the top!!  YUM YUM!!!  We also got a side of fresh fruit which came with fresh made VANILLA whipped cream!!...I am talking we could see the real vanilla beans people!! It was a super unique spin on the normal fresh fruit/vanilla yogurt that we normally get.

Overall Aquitaine was very special and enjoyable.  We give it an 8 out of 10 eggs for food, and an 8 out of 10 eggs for atmosphere (it got docked an egg for slow service, and we never got a refill on our coffee (which is a shame because it was very good).  The place glittered in the sun, and we would definitely go back another time for brunch or even dinner.  It was like being in Paris, but not having to take a plane to get there :)
