Another Sundaylicious event with my friend Laura this Sunday!!  We have decided to do brunch every Sunday to treat ourselves in honor of all the hard work we do all week.  We want to relax, splurge, and enjoy delicious food :)  Who doesn't right?   Laura just moved to Boston this past September after years of me asking (and perhaps sometimes pleading) for her to join me in this great city.   I have taken her to all my favorite places over the past couple of months, but now it is time for us to make new favorite spots together.  We don't want to go to the same places all the time (we can be serious creatures of habit). When we started to look for places on websites we felt a bit lost because sites don't always give you the information you need to make that big decision of the day: does this place fit our mood today?  Is the food going to be amazing or just ok? where are we going to brunch today that will have our taste buds tingling and our hearts
singing?  It is a BIG deal, as it will set the tone for our one special day together, and after all it has to be SUNDAYLICIOUS!!!  So while at brunch this Sunday we came up with the best idea: Let's write about all the brunch places we go to, and give all the ladies who brunch our thoughts and passions about each place. That way you can take our information and run (hopefully to your next sundaylicious brunch spot).  We hope you enjoy our insights, as we have fun making them.

This past Sundaylicious spot was Temple Bar on Mass Ave between Porter sq and Harvard sq in Cambridge:  http://templebarcambridge.com   Let me tell you....it was off the charts AMAZING!!!  We give it 9 eggs out of 10 for ambiance, and 9 eggs out of 10 for food!!! (by the way, we rank in eggs.. as in the yummy delicious breakfast food).  It was crowded, but we got seated right away.  We got there around 12:40pm and most tables were full, but they are spaciously set so you never feel like you are on top of your neighbors.  The seats are cozy, and the walls are made of beautiful brick.  It makes the whole place feel so warm.  I love feeling like I am in a place that I would aspire my home to be like (if I could have all the money in the world and the best interior decorator at my disposal), and also so beautiful and inspiring that it makes my brain start cranking and my blood pumping.  There are different spaces that do this in different ways.  Temple
Bar felt like a cozy London study, with the winter sun coming through the windows to give you just enough light to get your work done.   Our work that morning was BRUNCH!!

The first thing our waitress did was give us a nice plate of mini muffins and banana bread....sold!!!  What a super nice way to start off a brunch...with free yummies.  We ordered our drinks: one mimosa for me, and one bellini for Laura.  My Sundaylicious events always start with a mimosa and a coffee...we double fist it people!!!  The mimosa was a very nice size, and had a good mix of orange juice and champagne.

Laura and I usually have a hard time picking between savory dishes (eggs, bagels, potatos..), or sweet dishes (pancakes, frenchtoast...).  Temple Bar did not make it easy on us as everything on the menu sounded so good.  I picked the best of both worlds:  A fruit and yogurt parfait, and two eggs scrambled with bacon and potatos.  Laura went for one of Temple Bar's signature dishes, eggs benedict.  My eggs were good, but a little on the wet side.  I prefer them on the drier side personally. On a side note, why doesn't any place make scrambled eggs with cheese?  Cheese makes everything better right?  That needs to be on my need to find for our next brunch list...cheesy eggs.  The potatos were seasoned well, and were soft and yummy.  The bacon was crispy, and it came with toast that I didn't eat (I am more of a bagel kinda of a gal).  Laura loved her eggs benedict, and the sauce was the seller!

The best part of the meal was the fruit an yogurt parfait hands down!!!  It was huge an Laura and I split it (we are cute like that).  It had honey on it, which took it over the TOP!!!  I have to say Temple Bar really hits all the bullet points of a seriously great Brunch.  They do not miss a step.  Great service with a smile, tasty food, and a warm atmosphere.  Seriously well done Temple Bar!!  Here's another pic for you of the dish of the day:
Hungry Anyone?  I know I am!!!  Hands down one of the best brunches I have had in awhile.  Temple Bar supplies you with good food and drink, and the prices are pretty reasonable.  We highly recommend them for your next Sundaylicious event.

Laura and I had enough money left over to go to a movie in Harvard sq afterwards.  Nothing like following your mimosa brunch off with a little Shirley...Sherlock Holmes that is.  The movie was a blast, and capped off another Sundaylicious day.  Next week...TBD.  we shall see.  My taste buds are in anticipation...hope yours are too :)
